…fall back. November 1, 2009

I’ll gladly admit that when it comes to changing the clocks back and forth for Daylight Savings Time, setting the clock back an hour is so much easier to get used to than when you set it ahead again. Still, today has that weird “it feels so much later than it is!” feeling about it and it leaves me unsettled.

Worth it though, I guess, when you take into consideration the scenery that this time of year brings…

I love fall. Love it, even despite how much I don’t love the way that the shortened days affect me or that it only means the beginning of a long, cold winter is not far off at all. Fall means a wonderful crispness in the air that is heavenly to breathe, a temperature just right for wearing little more than sweaters outside without being cold, and rich, vibrant colors wherever you go,  whether it be an hours-long drive or only walking to your mailbox.

I just wish it lasted a little longer than it does. *sigh*

I can’t believe it is November already!!! Hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween! Munchkin dressed up as Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and she went trick-or-treating with her friends The Angel and The Fairy. It was very cute.

While we were out, I wore my Wavelet, which I finally have pictures of now!

I have been knitting quite a bit, I don’t have any other finished knitting objects to share just yet, but I do have nearly 200 yards of delicious Tussah silk from Spunky Eclectic, handspun by yours truly. It’s just begging to be a cowl, and I already have one in mind

slightly frazzled…Mostly excited. August 26, 2009

It’s 11pm and I still have much to do before bed because in the early morning hours of tomorrow, the munchkin and I are headed to the northern region of the state to spend a few days with my dad at my parents’ lakeside camp.

I’m pretty sleepy at this point and still have a fair amount of packing to do, but I have to say, I’m pretty excited and looking forward to this trip. I’ve never really spent any fair amount of time alone with my dad since my brother was born…and he’s now 19…but, honestly, I’ve never done a trip like this with my dad, period.

And I’m not trying to say anything negative there. In the past, when it’s come down to spending time with a parent, I’ve always gravitated towards my mom…I think that’s normal. That girls mostly spend time with their moms, and boys with their dads. That’s how it goes.

But I’m looking forward to having these next couple of days with my dad…and sharing that with my daughter

Sticky Sunday. August 23, 2009

I’ve always loved heat. I look forward to summer because it means that, after a extremely long, bitterly cold Maine winter, I will finally get to be as warm as I want to be.

What I don’t love is humidity, a factor that has made the last week all but unbearable. Staying in a constant sweat while you are doing nothing more than sitting down is just not fun. Today was no different, as we ended up getting none of the stormy weather promised to us from Hurricane Bill. The sky is just now growing darker, though, and I’ve heard a rumble of thunder, so I’m still holding out hope for cooler air…

Two projects have taken up the majority of my Sunday. The first was weeding out the munchkin’s toys and organizing what remained. Nearly two hours and 3-garbage-and-1-Goodwill-bag later, that monumental task was complete. It was not at all fun, but I’m glad it’s done. I’m even more glad that her dad got her out of the house so that I could do it.

The second was working on the Hearts and Stars Blanket that has been on my needles for, well, way too long. I’ve unfairly nicknamed the project the ‘bane of my existence’ due to the unforeseen monotony and amount of knitting needed for it when I started the thing over A YEAR AGO. The intended giftee is very special to me and is now just a few weeks shy of being a year old herself. So, I’m trying hard to get it finished up so I can a) stop feeling guilty about it, and b) take it with me to her birthday party.



We shall see. If nothing else, my intentions are good…

Resurrection August 21, 2009

After taking a relatively lengthy break from blogging my fibery endeavors, I’ve decided to give it another go.

And yes, I’m back on WordPress after originally moving from TypePad to here, to Apple’s MobileMe, and then to Blogger. Sorry about all of the jumping around, I know it’s hard to follow.

But anyway, I’m back and planning on staying put this time. I’m still working on moving in and getting settled again, so please bear with me and excuse the mess in the meantime
